The Dark Knight is a 2008 American superhero film based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman. The film is a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins, which rebooted the Batman film series after an eight-year hiatus. Christopher Nolan returns as the director, and Christian Bale reprises the lead role. Batman's primary conflicts in the film come from his fight against the Joker (Heath Ledger) and his strained friendship with district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).
Nolan took inspiration from the Joker's first two appearances in the comics, and like the first film, Batman: The Long Halloween was a major influence on the story. The Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago (as was Batman Begins), as well as several other locations in and outside the United States. The director used an IMAX camera to film four major action sequences, including the Joker's first appearance in the film. The Batsuit was redesigned, with a cowl allowing Bale to move his head. A recreation of the Batcycle, known as the Batpod, will be introduced.
Warner Bros. created an aggressive viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, developing several dozen websites revealing details of the film, such as screenshots, as a reward for collaboration among Batman fans. This led to some press attention concerning how its campaign might be altered by Ledger's death on January 22, 2008, since the Joker had been a chief promotional focus. Other marketing ventures include a new toy line as well as an animated direct-to-DVD anthology titled Batman: Gotham Knight that is set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The film will be released on July 17, 2008 in Australia, on July 18, 2008 in North America, and on July 25, 2008 in the United Kingdom.

AGH! So amazingly good!
Definately the best Batman movie! It was amazing, I can't wait to see it again. Heath Ledger definately stole the show.
too bad that two face die so fast ~ i never seen this joker, its really amazzing to see joker in action
omg this movie was soo good!! Heath Ledger played such a good joker he made that part his own. May he rest in peace.
but i still cant believe two-face died so quick they couldve done a movie with two-face teaming up with another villian that would have been really good. but all in all the movie was straight up amazing!!!
I was surprised about Two-Face as well.
love the movie!
the joker was amazing!
christian bale was hot has batman =]
Heath Ledger did a good job no a perfect job!
such a good actor miss him soo much =(
may he rest in peace
soooo good!! Heath was sooo great! R.I.P.
joker kept on making me laugh his laugh is so addicting :D but batman so efin hotttttt
wheres batman look so efin hot? i dont finded it.. what about the others.. like two face, or joker? did u find it hot too?
I loved the previous movie and was excited about the next chapter. I had serious reservations about Heath Ledgers performance as the joker because, in my opinion, he's never given a solid performance in the past, although admittedly I haven't seen alot of his work. Due to his death shortly after completing the film the hype about his performance was out of hand; people tend to over exaggerate the quality of the work due to some respect for the dead thing or something...
Sometimes people get lucky, the right role... at the right time in their life... it all just clicks. Al Pacino in Scarface, Robert Deniro in Taxi Driver... i'm not saying Ledger was anywhere near as talented as those two men, but as his career evolved, who knows... Heath Ledger as the joker owned that movie and I found myself cheering for him more than batman.
It was great to see that character played as a true psychotic and not a cartoon. This new joker is the Tyler Durden of the criminal underworld. Confident, captivating and out of his mind! Now I wanna try the disappearing pencil trick! Any volunteers...??
it was cool to see batman cars turning into a super motorcycle! this is the first! coooooL !!
trying to disappearing a pencil trick?? how can.... u are not joker!
ur a masta..... uhh i must stopin
MastaKink, I completely agree with you.
This is like the greatest movie ever made, and Heath's best! I'd have to say that his performance in 'A Knight's Tale' is his second best, and that movie doesn't even level up to his performance in 'The Dark Knight'. He is such a badass!
And about Two-Face... I believe he did die... But my retard friend said that he was only passed out and the funeral was a stunt so that Gotham could remember Dent as a hero, and not a chance-ridden psychopath.
I have no clue if that's true, but it could be.
saw that film yday, has 2 be THE best filmof the year, absolutely UNBELIEVABLE LIKE
I don’t know if it was shown on purpose but you can see two-faces chest moving as he breathes in and out after that fall. So i suspect he’ll be returning for part three. Let’s just hope it not as short a return as scarecrows. What the hell was up with that?
Ah Heath Ledger was soo great as the Joker. Mmm made me wanna marry him! But sadly, no one can.
IMDb gave it rating 9.3/10 !!! from 198,552 votes
probably the best movie of the year.
Oh u can marry him, simply easy..., just find a guy who look alike him.. (of course not joker) n_n
i'm gona make this pencil, dissapear.
Heath Ledger's performance of The Joker was really good. He outshined all the other characters. Tragic his second last performance was the one which got him REALLY noticed. :( It wouldn't be the same if they got another person to play The Joker.
I don't think they would replace him. Not because the movie industry has dignity, but because they'd know that almost everyone would boycott the movie.
Definitely my favorite current movie as of now. <3333333
