We all hear pretty strange stories about how airlines charge people these days. I recently heard from an airline that is considering seating their passengers and pricing their tickets accordingly. That’s pretty drastic stuff in my book, but maybe it’s justified too. In any case, booking airline tickets can be quite expensive.
But we as airline customers have a way of fighting back. And what I mean by fighting back is smart shopping and saving money. Whether you are traveling for business or for personal reasons, there is no excuse for not being able to find the best flight deals. It’s easy to know where to look and then do your homework by looking for the best fin. It’s not difficult at all and well worth it in my opinion.
I personally like to use the internet to shop and compare airline travel deals. There are literally dozens and dozens of websites that are independent of the airlines and are therefore not required. What that means is that it is in their best interest to show you the very best available.
Some of these websites can be a bit intimidating at first, but you’ll soon find that they’re actually quite easy to navigate. They can actually be quite enjoyable once you master them. I see travel sites as treasure maps and it is up to me to find the treasure, which in this case are exceptional air travel.
What you will see is that these travel sites usually offer much more than just airline tickets and information. Many of them offer package deals with hotels, car rentals, and visits to attractions such as amusement parks and museums. Actually makes perfect sense, right? The bottom line is that you can get a great refund as part of a travel package.
Another excellent alternative is to book last minute flight reservations. To find the best deals, you usually have to book your flight well in advance. But a little-known secret is that if you’re flexible enough and can travel at the last minute, there are great deals. Airlines that are canceled at the last minute will sell their tickets for sale instead of emptying those seats and not making any money from the airline.
If you find a lot on it last minute cheap flights then you have to be prepared to travel at strange times. What usually happens is that the airlines have the most empty seats during their red-eye flights. But for my money, traveling at odd hours of the morning and night is an inconvenience that is more than offset by the savings on airline tickets.
I have personally had great success and save a lot of money buying my comparison stores online and taking advantage of the great air travel deals available. They are there, believe me, you just need to know where to look.
